Be a Manager with the IHF – and a lot more

To continue the International Handball Week celebrations, the IHF can reveal four innovations for fans of the sport around the world.

IHF Mini Handball Game
Set to launch in August, the IHF Mini Handball Game provides an interactive experience in a real-world environment using Augmented Reality (AR) technology.

Aimed at young people and those young at heart, when your mobile phone scans a specific code – it could be at an IHF event or for a special occasion – your immediate environment will turn into a place for some handball gaming fun.

How will you do when faced with five penalty shots against the tough goalkeeper?

IHF Be a Manager
Have you ever wanted to be a Handball Manager? You will be able to soon!

The IHF’s ‘Be a Manager’ game will work exclusively at IHF competitions and is linked directly to ihf.info via the statistical platform used for player data at IHF competitions. ‘Be a Manager’ will see you pick a dream team of 14 players consisting of two players in each position – goalkeepers, right wings, left wings, right backs, left backs, centre backs and line players.

You then select your seven players (no more than four from one team) in a starting line-up for each game with points gained through a variety of different situations. The overall points winner of each IHF competition will be champion.

Follow your team through the competition in an interactive way and play your way to the top with your own dream team!

IHF Camera Filter
A new camera filter is set to be added to the IHF App which will see fans able to use a variety of handball-specific content for selfies including posing with your favourite national team jersey, medals, players and much more. Watch this space for more details!

IHF Dashboard
In a further expansion of ihf.info, a special statistical-based dashboard will be added allowing for even more in-depth live data and its analysis. This will give you a chance to get to know your favourite player, coach or team even more and dive deep into how they play the game.

These four new announcements follow 18 months of innovations from the IHF across a number of different areas.

18 months of innovation
At the beginning of last year we launched our new website, which was followed at the end of the year with the launch of the IHF app, which included direct influence on matches with the innovative ‘Player of the Match’ voting system

Earlier this year, the IHF Virtual Academy launched with the aim of extending and expanding the education and further training of coaches, referees, delegates and educators around the world from the comfort of their own homes.
