Further postponement of Asian events
11 Aug. 2020

Following our update in April, the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) have released a statement from their executive office announcing further changes to its events schedule ââŠdue to the global pandemic of COVID-19â.
Five continental championships are affected with the Menâs Junior (U20) Championship in Shiraz, Iran, now taking place in âthe first half of March 2021â, while the Menâs Youth (U18) Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, now being played in âthe second half of March 2021â.
Both the menâs and womenâs Club League Championships have also been delayed, with the womenâs edition in Almaty, Kazakhstan, set to be held in the âfirst half of April 2021â and the menâs edition, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, taking place in the âsecond half of May 2021â.
The Menâs and Womenâs Youth Beach Handball Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, have been pushed back to the âsecond half of February 2021â.
The AHF confirmed that the 18th edition of the AHF Womenâs Asian Championship, which was scheduled for 20-30 November, has also been postponed, with the host and new dates still to be determined.Â
In addition to the AHF event changes, the Olympic Council of Asia, the Chinese Olympic Committee, and the Sanya Asian Beach Games Organising Committee yesterday announced that they had agreed to postpone âThe Sixth Asian Beach Games Sanya 2020â to 2-10 April 2021 due to the âglobal impact of the novel coronavirusâ.Â
In a statement it was confirmed that the postponed Games will keep their original name âThe Sixth Asian Beach Games Sanya 2020â and that the ââŠaforesaid three parties will continue their preparations for the GamesâŠâ
