Sierra Leone group scoops IHF Youngsters’ Training Diary prize
21 Dec. 2022

Back in June, the IHF invited handball players, coaches, teachers and fans across the world to enter the ‘IHF Youngsters’ Training Diary contest’ with the aim of promoting handball to children around the world.
The contest was open to young people aged 8 to 14, either individually or as a group. They had to complete elements of the IHF Youngsters’ Training Diary as well as submitting video or photo footage of exercises from the diary.
These included ‘Improve your skills and work on yourself at home’ for individuals and ‘Play with your family members and friends’ for groups.
Submissions were accepted up until the end of last month, with a variety of prizes on offer for the winners. These included being featured on the IHF social media channels, a playing jersey or signed ball (individual) or personalised video and Q&A (group) with the winners’ favourite handball star.
After much consideration, the group submission from coach Elobgima Joseph Amara from Sierra Leone, alongside individuals Hawa Sia Sam, Tennehma Kallon, Fatmata J Bah and Fatmata Elongima Amara were the winners. Check our social channels to see the content which took the honours.
Congratulations to coach Amara and the winning individuals – your prizes are on their way.

About the IHF Youngsters’ Training Diary
The IHF Youngsters’ Training Diary (TD) was created in 2021 with the goal of providing a fun, motivating and challenging guide to handball training for kids.
Created by the IHF Handball @ School Working Group, the TD:
- helps young players to improve themselves
- works on important skills outside of traditional training sessions
- increases physical condition any time in any place
- improves specific handball skills as dribbling or passing-catching
A key element of the TD is group exercises, ensuring that young children can play together or involve family members in any place or try in their training session.
The TD is available in several languages for download here.
An English e-TD includes videos of all individual exercises to see good execution of exercises here.
