Line-up complete for 2024 IHF Beach Handball World Championships

Following the completion of both the North America and the Caribbean Handball Confederation (NACHC) and South and Central America Handball Confederation (SCAHC) men’s and women’s beach handball championships last week, all 32 teams (16 men’s, 16 women’s) are now confirmed for the 2024 IHF Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships.

In the NACHC event held in Puerto Rico the USA and Puerto Rico’s men’s and women’s teams took the four qualification slots, while in the SCAHC, the men’s and women’s teams of Brazil and Argentina took four of the five slots available, with Uruguay’s men taking the fifth spot in the competition held in Paraguay.

Pingtan Island in the People’s Republic of China will host the two world championship competitions from Tuesday 18 June to Sunday 23 June with 2022 champions Germany (women) and Croatia (men) qualifying through automatically to defend their titles won two years ago in Heraklion, Greece.

2024 host nation China will see their men’s team debut in the global event, along with fellow first-timers, African champions Tunisia. Croatia and Brazil will continue their streak of appearing at every single men’s world championship since it debuted back in 2004 in Egypt with this being their 10th, straight appearance.

In the women’s competition, Philippines and Puerto Rico make their bow at this level, while the Brazilian women become the only nation to have appeared in all 10 editions of the event.
