Key highlights of the day: Unbeaten powerhouses clash

Only three days are left at the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship and the business end of the event in Cairo will bring excitement, emotions and some superb handball, as the top four teams at Egypt 2021 are set to clash for the trophy.

It will be hard to top the superb games in the quarter-finals, especially the classic between Denmark and Egypt, but the Danes can now secure their second World Championship title in a row.

The first challenge for Denmark, who are on a 17-game winning run at the IHF Men’s World Championship and could seal their place in the final for the fourth time in the last six tournaments, is the game against Spain

The all-European card at Egypt 2021 is completed by France and Sweden, two teams with great history between them, playing for the 22nd time against each other. While Sweden have a young team, France still rely on experienced key players, as French coach Guillaume Gille knows a thing or two about winning against Sweden.

It has been a passionate World Championship, but also a competition with a lot of premieres. Egypt 2021 was the first IHF World Championship featuring 32 teams, and this is the first time all four semi-finalists have progressed to the final weekend without conceding a loss.

After 98 games were played at Egypt 2021, ranks 5 to 32 have been confirmed and you can find out your favourite team’s ranking here.
