IHF Medical Webinar Series shifts focus to mental health

ASOIF Chair of Medical and Science Consultive Group Professor Margo Mountjoy continues the IHF Medical Webinar Series continues tomorrow, 3 November at 14:00 CET with a presentation entitled ‘Mental Health of the Players’. 

The seminars are free to attend and can be joined via Zoom, where translation is available into Arabic, French and Spanish. They are also streamed live on the IHF Facebook page.

A former elite synchronized swimmer and the current Bureau member of the International Federation for Aquatics (FINA), Prof. Mountjoy is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University Medical School and Regional Assistant Dean of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, McMaster University, Canada. Her expertise is injury and illness prevention in athletes, as well as health promotion through physical activity. In addition to being Chair of the ASOIF Medical & Science Consultative Group, Prof. Mountjoy is a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Working Group on Mental Health in Athletes and the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Health Medicine and Research Committee. She is also engaged with the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Academy of Sport & Exercise Medicine as an advocate of the prevention of harassment and abuse in sport.
