The IHF Medical Webinar Series continues tomorrow, 27 October at 14:00 CET with a presentation from Dr Zakia Bartagi entitled ‘Verification of gender during women’s competitions & Hormonal variations in the menstrual cycle and performance in sports’.  

The webinar will cover, among others, the following:

• Gender verification regulations
• Transgender athletes in high-level sports
• Testosterone regulations
• Eligibility of transgender athletes
• IOC guidelines regarding transgender athletes

The seminars are free to attend and can be joined via Zoom, where translation is available into Arabic, French and Spanish. They are also streamed live on the IHF Facebook page.

Dr Bartagi is the Director of the Tunisian National Anti-Doping Agency and has many years of experience in sports medicine and anti-doping. Notably, she served on numerous world championship medical commissions across different sports, including the 2005 IHF Men’s World Championship in Tunisia.

In the IHF, she has been part of its Therapeutic Use Exemptions Committee (TUE) for 10 years and has now joined the TUE Committee of the International Testing Agency as well.
