IHF Executive Committee meets in Cairo

The IHF Executive Committee held their first meeting of 2020 Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, one of the host cities of the 2021 IHF Men’s World Championship, which throws-off in just over 320 days.

It was the 10th meeting during this electoral period (2017-2021) and it got underway with a review of the minutes from the previous meeting, held in Kumamoto, Japan, on the fringes of the 2019 IHF Women’s World Championship.

Competitions were next on the agenda, with a report on the recent European, Asian and African men’s continental championships given by the respective IHF Representative who was present at each event.

The second edition of the IHF Men’s Super Globe to be held in Saudi Arabia later this year was then discussed, followed by finances.

Development focused on the new programme entitled ‘Reach the Next Level!’ which includes Education of Coaches in Asia and African preparation programme for the upcoming 2021 IHF Men’s World Championship.

Another topic discussed was the joint IHF-EHF (European Handball Federation) meeting regarding wheelchair handball, held in the EHF Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, earlier this month to prepare the joint World Wheelchair Handball Championship to be held in 2020 and the second planned for 2021.

“Discussions at the IHF Executive Committee meeting were productive and valuable especially our new developmental programme,” said IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa. “I was pleased to hear about our successful continental competitions and I look forward to seeing our ideas become reality through our many projects very soon.”
