Meeting of IHF Executive Committee at Japan 2019

The IHF Executive Committee met on the fringe of the 24th IHF Women’s World Championship in Japan to discuss a broad range of topics including both upcoming and recent past competitions organised by the IHF, the New Markets’ Project, and miscellaneous subjects such as the Handball at School campaign.
Regarding competitions, the IHF Executive Committee reviewed media aspects of the events organised over the summer of 2019, including the Junior and Youth World Championships, as well as the Men’s and Women’s Super Globe editions. The newly developed IHF application was also discussed. In addition, the 24th Women’s World Championship in Japan was reviewed regarding organisational and marketing aspects.
In terms of upcoming championships, the 2020 Beach Handball World Championships and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were on the agenda. While the TV and marketing rights were awarded to the Italian Handball Federation, the Executive Committee was provided with a report on the meeting between Dr Moustafa and the International Olympic Committee with the possible inclusion of beach handball on the programme for the 2024 Olympic Games a key item of discussion.
Updates regarding IHF bodies were an additional focus. The minutes from the first meeting of the Wheelchair Handball Working Group were presented, as were the new IHF Commission of Coaching and Methods lecturers.
