Egypt 2021 – Press conferences with physical presence, no virtual accreditation

Following yesterday’s decision not to allow spectators in the arenas, the Egypt 2021 Organising Committee consequently decided on not allowing virtually-accredited media to enter the arenas at the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship, which will be held from 13 to 31 January 2021 in Egypt. The concept for full-bubble accredited media in general is not concerned by this latest decision. Media representatives inside the bubble can still enter the arena and work as planned.

Up to today, it had been planned for virtually-accredited media in Egypt to be allowed to watch matches from viewing stands in a separated area in the arena. However, this will not be the case anymore, keeping the health and safety of all stakeholders involved in the competition in mind.

Furthermore, the Organising Committee has decided to make the press conferences available for everyone on their social media channels. No links to the virtual press conferences will be sent out. However, this also entails, according to the latest concept, that the interaction at the virtual press conferences will be between the stakeholders in the bubble only.

As a further amendment to the Egypt 2021 COVID-19 Medical Precaution Plan Article 12.3.4 Press conferences, it was decided to allow physical presence of full-bubble accredited media during the press conferences. Due to the low amount of overall media accredited for the full bubble, safe working conditions according to the World Health Organization guidelines can be guaranteed in the press conference rooms.
