Türkiye ready for ebt Finals

Four days of beach handball action featuring the very best European club sides as the 2023 edition of the EHF European Beach Handball Tour (ebt) Finals gets underway today (Thursday 8 June) in Antalya, Türkiye.

The four-day event (Thursday 8 - Sunday 11 June) will see 14 men's teams and 14 women's teams from 11 European nations compete for the titles across three courts.

'The Danish Beachhandball Dream' will look to defend their women's title, which they won in 2022 under the name 'Team Blue Bee'.

Reigning men's champions, the Portuguese side 'LX50 Handball', are not in Antalya this year, so there will be a new champion, with 2021 champions Danish side 'HEI Beach Handball' looking to showcase the strength of the sport in Denmark.

The two competitions will run side-by-side, throwing off with a preliminary round featuring two groups of seven teams each. Each team will play each other once in the group, with the top four in each then going through to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and medal matches. The bottom three in each group will play off in the 9-14 placement round.

Konyaalti Belediyesi BHT carry the host nation's hopes in both the men's and women's competitions, with Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Croatia, Hungary and Poland fielding club teams in both the men's and women's competitions.

In addition, French side GFCA Beach Handball – who have invited USA international and self-titled 'Handball Ninja' Ebiye Jeremy to coach and play for them in their debut ebt Finals appearance – will play in the men's competition, while London GD from Great Britain will appear in the women's competition.

All the games from Antalya are being streamed live and for free on EHFTV.com.
