The IHF Women’s Youth Beach Handball World Championship is special not only for beach handball in Argentina but the sport as a whole.
Their bronze medal back in the debut edition in Mauritius in 2017 was the first-ever IHF World Championship medal for the nation in any age category or discipline, including both indoor and beach handball. Moments later on the same court, the Argentina men would also take third spot.
The great, historic and multiple-title winning handball nation of Romania has never seen a team qualify for a Beach Handball World Championship, but that changed when their women’s youth side were handed a continental allocation spot for the 2022 IHF Women’s Youth Beach Handball World Championship in Greece.
The road to Greece for Poland started slowly but ended on a high as they finished inside Europe’s top five nations at the Women’s 17 EHF Beach Handball EURO 2021, held in Bulgaria last July.
A reduced preliminary round in Varna started with a shoot-out loss to Russia, but a 2-0 win over Lithuania ensured safe passage through to the main round for the Poles.
