In close cooperation with the local organizers and the TV rights partner UFA Sports, the International Handball Federation has confirmed the official match schedule for the Women’s World Championship in Serbia (6 to 22 December).
The four groups of the preliminary round (6 to 13 December) will be played in Belgrade, Nis, Zrenjanin and Novi Sad. Host Serbia will officially throw-off the World Championship with the opening match against Japan on 6 December in Nis.
The groups of the preliminary round:
A in Belgrade: Montenegro, France, Netherlands, Korea, Dominican Republic, DR Congo
B in Nis: Serbia, Denmark, Brazil, Japan, China, Algeria
C in Zrenjanin: Norway, Poland, Angola, Spain, Argentina, Paraguay
D in Novi Sad: Hungary, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic, Tunisia, Australia
The eighth-finals in Belgrade and Novi Sad will follow on 15/16 December, on the same days the President’s Cup (placement matches for the positions 17 to 24) will take place in Nis.
The quarter-finals (18 December) are played in Novi Sad and Belgrade; semi-finals (20 December), bronze final and final (both 22 December) will take place in the Combank Arena in Belgrade.
Like at the 2011 Women’s World Championship in Brazil and the 2013 Men’s World Championship in Spain no placement matches for the positions 5-16 will be carried out.
