On 1 December 2016, the Handball Federation of Azerbaijan elected their leadership.

The new President of the federation, Saleh Mammadov, took office on 1 January 2017. The new Secretary General of the federation is Yusif Atakishiyev.

On behalf of the international handball family, the President of the International Handball Federation would like to congratulate the President of the Handball Federation of Azerbaijan on his election and wishes him every success in his future tasks and challenges. He is assured that Mr Mammadov will put all his energies into the further development of handball at both national and international level.
