Draw for the 2018 Pan American Beach Handball Championships

From 8 to 11 March 2018, Oceanside, California/USA welcomes eight men’s and women’s beach handball teams each, who will compete not only for the title of Pan American Beach Handball Champions but also for one of the four tickets to the 2018 Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships to be held in Kazan, Russia at the end of July.
The competition will be played starting with a preliminary round in which the teams will be divided in two groups of four.
After the preliminary round quarter-finals will be played in the following format: 1A-4B; 2B-3A; 2A-3B; 1B-4A.
After the quarter finals the competition will continue with semi-finals; medal matches and placement matches.
The draw for the above-mentioned event will take place on 23 February 2018 in the IHF Head Office in Basle, Switzerland.
Based on previous ranking and participation the participating teams have been seeded as follows:
Men’s Competition – Pots and Procedure:
Pot 1: BRA – USA
Pot 2: ARG – URU
Pot 3: MEX – PAR
Pot 4: TRI – PUR
The USA as host has the right to choose the group they will compete in.
The pots will be drawn in the following order: Pot 4, Pot 3, Pot 2, Pot 1 (decision of USA Team Handball Federation)
Women’s Competition – Pots and Procedure:
Pot 1: BRA – URU
Pot 2: ARG – PAR
Pot 3: MEX – USA
Pot 4: TRI – CHI
The USA as host has the right to choose the group they will compete in.
