World Games 2017 in Wroclaw – with Beach handball in the official programme

The World Games 2017 will take place in Wroclaw, Poland. This decision was announced by Ron Froehlich, President of the International World Games Association, on Thursday 12 January on the occasion of the awarding ceremony in the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
The 2013 World Games will be staged in Cali, Colombia and it will be the first time that Beach Handball is among the sports of the official programme, after being invitational sports at the World Games 2001 in Akita, 2005 in Duisburg and 2009 in Kaohsiung. Β In 2017 Beach Handball will also be official part of the World Games in Wroclaw.Β
Giving reasons for the decision in favour of Wroclaw, President Ron Froehlich mentioned the excellent bid presented by the host city. β€œWe are happy to present our sports in Wroclaw in the summer of 2017, and we are sure that we will be offered optimal conditions for our sportsmen and women there.” The multi-sport event showcases 30-plus sports and is the pinnacle of the year for 4.400 athletes (including the invitational sports) from over 90 countries.
