"It's everything to me"

Argentina player Carolina Rossi spoke with IHF.info after her sides’ 2-0 win over Tunisia in the Consolation Round earlier today.

IHF.info: The first period saw Tunisia hit the post with 13 seconds left and then you scored with a penalty in the last six seconds to win. The second period you scored at the end again. How do you feel in this situation? Nervous? Focussed? Do you practise for these times?

Carolina Rossi: I think we were both nervous and focused, I don’t think we played a great match but we had two goals to find and we focused to make them.

IHF.info: Do you practise for these situations?

Carolina Rossi: We practise these situations, but it’s not the same. The game situation is different of course but we will keep practising that.

IHF.info: What can you learn from these situations?

Carolina Rossi: We try to learn from all of our games, we are a team that is growing, each makes us think and re-think all the things we do and how to do them better. We keep the feeling from losing those Hungary and Argentina games and we see them again and try to fix what is wrong.

IHF.info: Tunisia are in their first Beach Handball World Championship, what does it mean for Beach Handball to have new teams appearing?

Carolina Rossi: I think it’s great to see new teams here. We are at our second world championship, it’s more equal if we can incorporate teams from all over the world, it’s very rich for us, it’s all learning. It’s the same for Tunisia, it’s a really nice experience and it makes you grow a lot.

IHF.info: How is beach handball developing in Argentina?

Carolina Rossi: It’s a small sport in my country really, it’s not known that well, but all our families and friends are always behind us supporting, helping with everything.

It’s growing, especially the community, but it’s a slow process.

IHF.info: What does beach handball mean to you?

Carolina Rossi: It’s everything for me, I like it and I enjoy it. It makes me happy.
