Session 1 Review: Saturday 16 July

Men's Competition
Qatar eventually finished fourth in the main round behind Brazil, Croatia and Hungary, but for Spain, they had to wait until the last few seconds of the penalty shootout between Hungary and Qatar to know their fate.
A Qatar win would have meant passage through to the semi-finals for Spain, a loss, a passage for Hungary.
In the end, Hungary won 7:6 on penalties. Spain had already finished in their 2-0 victory over Ukraine and moved into Court 1 to learn their fate. Brazil and Croatia battled it out for top dog honours in their group with the South Americans squeezing through in the first period 21:20 and then taking the second 22:18.

In the final match of the main round, Italy narrowly lost both periods against Norway - 15:14, 12:11 - to finish fifth in the group.
