Hungary with conciliatory end – Serbia disappointed
In the last placement match for the places 17 and 18 Hungary had a very tight victory against Serbia. After 32:32 draw at the end of the normal playing time, the match went on with a 7-meter-shootour and ended 36:35 for Hungary, even though the Hungarians were leading almost the entire match. After the first 30 minutes Hungary seemed to be on its way to win leading 18:14. But during the second period of this match the Hungarian could not use their advantage and the competitor caught up to a three goals difference (32:29) three minutes before the end of the match and went on scoring three more goals in a row within the last three minutes to 32:32. The match was in the end decided by a penalty shootout. Winner of this shootout was Hungary. Best scorer of this tight placement match was Drasko Nenadic, who scored nine goals for Serbia. $
Placement round 9 – 16
20:30: Greece – Brasil 20:23 (11:13)
Greece: At the end lacked the power
After their defeat in the eight-final match against Tunisia, where the Greek squandered a clear victory one day before, the host of this Junior World Championship didn’t have the power to come back again. In their first match of the placement round for the places 9 to 16 Greece lost against Brasil 20:23, although they had the better start into the match. It took Brasil 17 minutes to reach their first lead (8:7). After 30 minutes Greece trailed two goals (11:13). During the second period of this match the host struggled back several times to a draw (14:14, 37th minutes; 16:16, 42nd minute; 17:17, 44th minute). But in the end it was too less power to win against the competitor from South America. During the last 15 minutes Brasil played clever and won deserved. Best scorer of this match was Raul Campos with five goals.
