Denmark defeated Germany in their semi-final to be the first team confirmed for the 2015 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship final, to be played in Uberlandia Sabiazinho tomorrow, Saturday the 1st of August.

ihf.info spoke with Denmark line player Simon Hald Jensen after the match about their win and the gold-medal game.

ihf.info: Congratulations. What was the key to Denmark’s win today?

Simon Hald Jensen: Team play. We fought really well together, and we believed in it all the way. Just amazing.

ihf.info: Was that your focus going into the game?

Simon Hald Jensen: Yes, we knew if we could push them in fast breaks and all the time give them some hard plays we would maybe have the edge at the end of the game.

ihf.info: Your coach, Claus Hansen, seemed a bit angry with the team’s defence in first half. Were you doing something in particular wrong?

Simon Hald Jensen: Kind of. We allowed them to get too many shots and that made it difficult for our goalkeeper. But in the end he was great today.

ihf.info: The Germany line player, Monitz Preuss, scored 17 goals in the Quarter-Final. Was that something you discussed before the game?

Simon Hald Jensen: Of course, it’s not every day a pivot scores 17 goals in a game so we talked a lot about him, but also the other players because we know a lot of their playing style is through three, four players.

ihf.info: You might play France, the only side you lost so far in the tournament (in the group phase) in the final. What do you need to improve if they are the other finalist?

Simon Hald Jensen: Against France our defence wasn’t good enough, so if we meet them we definitely have to improve that – but I’m sure we will and I’m sure we will win it.

ihf.info: And if you play Egypt?

Simon Hald Jensen: I haven’t seen them play that much so I have to see some video before I can say anything about their playing style.
