Netherlands and Sweden already qualified for the Quarterfinal – Summary of the first half of match day 4

Group A

Netherlands – Angola 37:32 (17:13)

The joy of the Dutch was big. With their third victory in three games the Oranjes booked their ticket to the quarterfinals. Even though the Netherlands had much more difficulties than expected. Angola had fought strongly in the beginning of the first half and came, by scoring 15:17 dangerously close to the Dutch women. After being alerted by this score, the Dutch improved and distanced themselves goal by goal. But even at a score of 28:19 the game was still not decided. Five minutes before the end of the game Angola had struggled to a tide two goals difference (30:32). But thanks to the focused concentration until the last second of the game and also to the strong performance of Dutch player Lois Abbingh (14 goals), the young women from the Netherlands won deservedly with 37:32. Angola's best thrower of today was Ana Barros (eight goals).

While the Netherlands can plan for the next round, Angola can’t reach the quarterfinals by their own.

Group C

Hungary – Sweden 30:36 (13:22)

The story of success keeps on going. Also in their third game the Scandinavian women took a victory by defeating Hungary with 36:30. The Hungarians played a weak first half, which was completely decided to their disadvantage. Despite a significantly better performance in the second half of the game, they couldn’t fill the gap of the first half in which they had been trailing back with nine goals. The Swedish, who had in Maria Adler (7 goals) their best scorer, are standing right now at the top of group C (6:0 points) and are practically qualified for the quarterfinal. Should they gain one point in the still remaining match against Kazakhstan, they will also be group winner.

Kazakhstan - DR Congo 26:20 (11:10)

In the second game of Group C, Kazakhstan won against DR Congo (26:20) and achieved their first two points at this WCh. For DR Congo the dream of the quarterfinal is over, and also Kazakhstan has, despite thiis first success in their third preliminary match only theoretical chances to reach the next round.
