Host Dominican Republic wins against Japan - Summary of the second half of match day 4

Group A

Argentina – Germany 13:38 (4:16)

Germany won the match of the losers with a clear 38:13 victory and keeps a minimal chance to enter the quarterfinals. After two lost games and 0:4 points, both teams were quite nervous at the beginning of the match and made many mistakes. After ten minutes and a 2:2 draw, the Germans showed their team spirit and scored nine goals in a row (11:2), which already decided the match. The German women only stopped scoring in the final phase of the match, so that the South Americans finally had the possibility to score some consolation goals. Stefanie Hummel and Helena Hertlein (both five goals) were the most successful players of the German team. Argentina can’t reach the quarterfinal anymore. Germany will meet Denmark in the last game of their group and must hope for help from the Dutch team which will compete against Denmark before.

Group B

Dominican Republic – Japan 38:22 (17:12)

The host is back. Two days after the unfortunate defeat against Uruguay, the Dominican Republic won its match against Japan 38:22 (17:12). Thanks to this victory, the host of the 3rd Women’s Youth WCh is maintaining its chance to qualify for the quarterfinals. Already in the first half, the team from the Caribbean island dominated the match, went into half time with a 17:12 lead. In the second period, the match became more and more one-sided. The strongest phase of the host was between the 45th and the 53rd minute, as the Dominicans extended their lead from 27:17 to 36:17. Best scorer of the game was Yacaira Tejeda with a total of twelve goals.

Group D

Korea –Brazil 29:28 (18:13)

Even though it wasn’t a high-class match at all times, it remained exciting until the very last second. Korea defeated Brazil in a dramatic game with a very tight score of 29:28. Now they can still hope for the quarterfinals. In the first half, the Koreans seemed to be the clear winners by leading with six goals. But due to suspensions and many technical mistakes, the Brazilians could catch up. They equalized in the 58th minute (27:27), but failed to win the victory, as they couldn't score the last decisive goal in the hectic closing stages. Korea's best thrower was Hyeona Noh, who scored twelve goals. Brazil's Juliana Araujo scored eight times.
