Korea and Denmark overrun their competitors

Eighth-final in Ohrid

Korea – Japan 42:34

An impressive Korean performance as it is expected for one of the favourites of this Women´s Youth (U18) World Championship was sufficient to beat their competitor from Japan clearly with 42:34. After 60 one-sided minutes the Japanese girls were glad that this internal Asian duel was over. Again and again the fast Korean players overran the Japanese. Speed handball at its best made Korea the highly superior team and already after the first 30 minutes they were in lead with 22:12. The match was pre-decided. So, as a consequence, Korea switched one gear down during the second half, but won this match without further difficulties. On Wednesday Korea will meet the German team for the semi-final, while Japan will play against Portugal for the places 9 to 16.

Eighth-final in Strumica

Denmark – France 33:22 (17:14)

As the last of the eight teams for the quarter-final Denmark have qualified against France. With 33:22 the Scandinavians won this internal European duel against a – especially during the second half – hopelessly overwhelmed competitor. During the first half the French girls were able to keep the match open. After 30 minutes they were only three goals behind. But during the second half Denmark played physically and tactically as a team which has big chances to win this tournament. With a difference of eleven goals in the end (33:22) they made it to the next round, where they will play against Russia, while France wil go to Strumica to play for the places 9 to 16.
