Congo – Uzbekistan 34:25 (12:12)

With a defeat in their last match Uzbekistan missed the chance to achieve something historic: the first victory of this federation at a World Championship. Finally Congo was the better team although the Asians played tough during the first half. The result was 12:12 at break, which also clearly reflects the equality of both teams in the first half. The predecision for Congo was made when the African girls scored six times in a row and built up the lead from 17:14 to 23:14. Uzbekistan could not reduce the gap and while the Asian girls were lacking power in the final stages of this match, Congo played successfully to the end. In the ranking of this Women´s Youth (U18) World Championship Congo finished as second-last, while Uzbekistan is ranked 24th.

President´s Cup (places 21/22) in Skopje

Kazakhstan – China 27:25 (12:14)

Finally Kazakjstan is going to leave FYR Macedonia and this World Championship with two major achievements. After beating Congo the day before they were also successful against China in the match for the places 21 and 22 and won finally with 27:25. But it took the Kazakhstan girls very long to get into this match. During the initial stages China had build up a six-goal lead twice, when they were ahead with 10:4 after 17 minutes and 12:6 after 20 minutes. But with six goals in a row within eight minutes (12:12, 28.) Kazakhstan was back in match, even if China scored twice in the last minute of the first half. During the second half the match surged back and forth, but finally China lacked the neccessary power to win. So Kazakhstan finished this tournament as 21st in the final ranking, China is 22nd.
