Brazil successful early in the morning - Placement match 7/8 in Ohrid

Place 7/8

Brazil – Russia 34:31 (14:14)

On Sunday morning Brazil were the better early riser: in the match for the places seven and eight between Brazil and Russia the Pan-Americans took the victory with 34:31 and concluded their performance in this Women´s Youth (U18) World Championship better than they expected. Russia on the other hand seemed to have lost all their power and motivation in their quarter-final against Denmark, where they lost quite unfortunately. Nevertheless it was a tight match for the whole 60 minutes. For 17 (!) times the intermediate result was a draw – very characteristically for the run of the game. Only during the last ten minutes the Brazilian girls used nearly all their chances, while Russia got nervous in front of the goal. So finally the Pan-American team is 7th in the overall ranking, Russia is placed 8.
