Argentina keep their chance for rank 9

Host Argentina and Slovenia will compete for rank 9. But to reach the victory over Brasil wasn’t that easy for Slovenia. The match of the Europeans was not free of mistakes.

Argentina – Korea 32:27 (15:10)

The host surprised: Argentina beat strong Korea and therewith kept the chance for a one-digit final rank at this Youth World Championship. The fans in the main hall were happy and could witness a strong first half time of their team. The Argentineans played with their hearts and gave, with the halftime result of 15:10, the first surprise. The second followed right during the second half. And it was not Korea, who reinforced their power. The Argentineans entered the second match part with even more strength and increased their advantage to 24:18 after 45 minutes. This was the decision. Argentina won the match with a final score of 32:27 and 2.500 spectators celebrated their team with standing ovations.

Slovenia – Brasil 32:27 (16:15)

It was a thrilling placement match. Brazil started in good shape and Slovenia made a tired impression at the beginning of the match. After 20 minutes the South Europeans woke up and started to play a match on eye level. None of the two competitors could reach more than a two goals advantage. Consequently the result after 30 minutes was a limited 16:15 for Slovenia. The second half was not very different from the first, the game stayed tight tough. Only in the last five minutes it was South America who lost the concentration. Thus Slovenia increased their goal difference in the end to 32:27 and reached the ticket to their next match, where they will meet Argentina to play for rank 9.
