Preview to the Final: Can Croatia beat the famous Danish team?
22 Aug. 2013

How can we beat Denmark? Eight teams were asking themselves the same question and nobody found the right answer so far. Up to now, the defending champion dominated the tournament, not only in the preliminary round, but also during the knockout matches. The Danish team jumped over each hurdle without any difficulties. Their clear victory over Romania in the eight-final was one and the win against Norway in the quarterfinal was another demonstration of their power. And also Spain was in the semi-final not strong enough to endanger the Scandinavians. There is only one more step left for Denmark to defeat the title and to become the World Champion for a third time. The team had a brilliant performance and played stronger from match to match. Also the statistic is on the Danish side. The team from head coach Claus Hansen will play for the third in a final of the Men’s Youth World Championships. 2007 and 2011 they won the finals – now, in 2013 the Danes will have a next big chance. But they still have to beat the strong Croatians to reach their main goal, which will not be that easy. The Croats surprised the handball world by beating in the quarterfinal the silver medallist of the last European Championship Sweden and in the semi-final Germany, which were actually unbeaten until they had met Croatia. It was a strong performance from the Croats. They have only one black point on their white vest – they lost the match against Spain in the preliminary round. Like the Danes, Croatia was Men’s Youth World Champion – in 2009. The team impressed in the last rounds with their balance. And the technical standard of the team is so high, that they only make a few mistakes in their typical style of play. The Croats surprised twice so far at this tournament, if they could surprise for a third time, than they would be the new Youth World Champion.Â
