Japan and Argentina reach the President’s Cup Final

Japan vs. Tunisia 43:31 (23:15)

It was a match, which was rich of goals. Both teams played with high speed during the first 30 minutes, but the talents from the Far East had the better fast breaks and played in general with less mistakes than Tunisia, which helped them to decide the game already before the break, taking the lead with a eight-goals difference and securing the result in the second half.

 

Argentina vs. Venezuela 36:25 (18:13)

Argentina was the stronger team. They played concentrated and more powerful. Venezuela did not want to lose this South American duel and fought ambitiously for a victory, but Argentina were too strong and their victory was deserved. Argentina will play the final of the Presidents Cup against Japan.

For the first time in the history of Youth World Championships a president’s cup will be played. And it is also for the first time, that 24 teams are competing in a Youth WCh.

 

Chile vs. Korea 40:33 (16:22)

Korea proved in their match against Chile, that they can play better as they were playing during the preliminary round. The Koreans convinced with their performance against Chile as they already did in their previous game against Romania. Nevertheless the Chileans fought bravely and Korea showed patience by increasing step by step the goal difference to a clear 40:33 victory in the end. On Monday, 19 August, the team from the Far East will face Angola.

 

Angola vs. Gabon 29:26 (16:13)

It was the first victory for Angola in this tournament. And it was an important victory, as Gabon is also a team from the African west coast. Gabon were not impressed by the advantage of the Angolan team during the first half and did not give up, which was the reason for an exciting match. Nevertheless Gabon failed to close the gap and left this match as the losers. Angola will meet Korea in the next game of the President’s Cup. Gabon will compete with Chile.
