Eighth-final 1: Norway surprise - Sweden safe

Sweden vs. Belarus 31:21 (17:11)

Both teams played the starting minutes equally. The Belarusians could compete with Sweden until the 10th minute (5:5). But from than on the Scandinavians increased their speed and took over the game. After 20 minutes the result was 10:6 for Sweden. And this was already the decision. With a 17:11 lead Sweden went into half time break and remained on the same high playing level during the second half of the match. Increasing their goal difference constantly to a final score of 31:21.

France vs. Norway 25:35 (13:21)

Norway surprised! The Scandinavians won against France. Especially the high goal difference in the final result of Norwegian victory is a sensation. Thus, Norway is qualified for the quarterfinals. Norway played concentrated and passionate. The French were unrecognizable: nervous, with a lot of mistakes, without visible team spirit. Norway took the lead quickly. The spectators were waiting for any kind of comeback of the French team, but unavailingly. The game was decided shortly after the start of the second half. The talents from Paris, Montpellier and Ivry were surely expecting more from themselves after their good performance in the preliminary round. The Scandinavians, however, are happy with the surprise.
