IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa presented the most important facts and figures of the current XX Women’s World Championship in Brazil in a Press Conference after the awarding ceremony of the World Championships 2017.

All 86 matches were or will be broadcasted live or delayed by TV stations all over the world.

112 countries worldwide broadcast the matches.

31 TV stations so far covered the matches live – for the final it will be even more.

Anti-Doping:

Doping controls during Preliminary Round and Knock-out stage in close cooperation of Prof. Hosny Abdelrahman (Head of IHF Anti-Doping-Unit) and NADO:

Number of current samples: 10 out of competition controls, 58 in competition controls

 

Referees:

16 nominated referee couples (eleven men couples and five women couples) from four continents

Average age of those nominated referees: 36 years – for some of them it was and is their first Senior World Championship

All referees under permanent IHF training in the Global Referee Training Program (GRTP)

Daily referee training including in-depth video analysis

After 80 matches no formal protests regarding referee performance

 

From Brazil to London 2012 and Serbia 2013:

World Champion qualify directly for the 2012 London Olympic Games and the XXI Women’s World Championship in Serbia 2013

The six best ranked teams from the XX Women’s World Championship in Brazil which are not directly qualified for London will qualify for the three Olympic Qualification Tournaments, played 25 – 27 May 2012.
