Placement Round 9 – 16: Strong Brazilian performance
19 Aug. 2013

France vs. Romania 29:26 (13:14)
The youngsters from Romania won the first half thanks to their concentrated performance. France had difficulties to find their way into the match during the first half time. Who thought that the French favorites could find back to their shape in the second half, was wrong. Romania showed a performance consisting of typical French features: speed, esprit and team spirit. Romania took the lead by 20:16 after 40 minutes. It was the final wake up call for the French team. France played now better, but not good enough and so the Romanians defeated their leadership to a 29:26 victory. Now the Romanians will play against host Hungary. France will meet Qatar.
Egypt vs. Brazil 33:39 (18:23)
While Egyptians were most of the time not as focused as at their first games of the tournament, the Brazilians were unimpressed by their clear defeat of the previous day, when they lost against Germany in the eighth-finals. The Brazilians played predominantly with their reserve players who had kept their physical conditions. After the first 30 minutes the match was decided. And the team from the sugar-loaf mountain kept playing on the same high level during the second half time. In the end they reached a victorious final result of 39:33. Brazil will meet Belarus in the next placement match. Egypt will play against Austria.
