Summary of the IHF Council Meeting

The IHF Council met on the fringe of the 22nd IHF Women’s Handball World Championship in Denmark to discuss several items including the awarding of the Olympic Qualification Tournaments, major sponsors and internal organisational matters.

After approving the respective criteria, the Council authorised the Executive Committee to decide on the awarding of the Olympic Qualification Tournaments to be held in spring 2016 ahead of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. The Olympic Qualification Tournaments have not yet been awarded.

The Council also agreed to appoint Mr Dietrich Späte, as caretaker Chairman of Commission of Coaching and Methods (CCM), and to renew the IHF sponsorship contracts with ball supplier Molten and Grundfos.

Other topics on the agenda included ball size, the Oceania pathway to the 2017 IHF World Championships, and the 2016 Olympic Games.
