Successful IHF D-Licence Courses organised in Syrian Arab Republic and Libya

The IHF continues to offer Coaches Courses to support National Federations in developing their coaches, therefore improving the standard of handball throughout the globe. The courses increase the quality of the coaches in all areas and contribute to improve the quality of our sport in the future. 

Courses are led by IHF CCM Lecturers, who provide the highest quality handball education based on the IHF Coaching Education Structure and aim to deliver the best inputs to help coaches gain invaluable experience and share their knowledge in the future.

Over the summer, two Coaches Courses took place in Syrian Arab Republic and Libya, with participants being awarded the IHF D-Licence. The first course took place in Damascus, Syria, between 8 and 14 June, while the second one was scheduled in Tripoli, Libya, between 6 to 13 August.

The course in the Syrian Arab Republic was supervised by Hermassi Souhail, an IHF Commision of Coaching and Methods (CCM) Lecturer, and had 40 participants, which all secured the IHF D-Licence.

The course in Libya was overviewed by Dr Nahla Boudhina, an IHF CCM Lecturer, and the President of the African Handball Confederation Commission of Coaching and Methods, with 21 participants securing their IHF D-Licence.

All of the courses consisted of a number of different topics including; playing philosophy, players’ education process, training organisation and basic repertoire of training forms for training units, individual training (contents and organisation), basic collaboration in attack and defence and basic physical training.

The theoretical part of the course also saw parts as unit and lesson planning, individual methodology, basic technical and tactical skills, but also how to prepare a mini handball festival.

The practical part of the course conducted by the two IHF CCM Lecturers also had basic game forms, lead-up games before the trainings and man-to-man defence, tailor-made lessons for all the participants, which were receptive and enjoyed themselves throughout the week, as well as receiving their IHF D-Licence at the end of the courses.
