Teams from eight countries to challenge for IHF Trophy Africa – Zone V in Nairobi

Kenya's capital Nairobi will host the Men's IHF Trophy Africa – Zone V, taking place from 25 to 29 October 2022, which also serves as a qualification event for the Intercontinental Phase of the IHF Trophy.

The same eight nations from the eastern part of Africa will be fighting for the title at the youth (U18) and junior (U20) competitions: Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Djibouti, Somalia and South Sudan. 
The youth event will be held at Nyayo National Stadium, while Ulinzi Sport Complex is the venue for the junior tournament. The participants will be divided into two groups of four teams at both competitions.

The formats of both events are identical. The group stage will be held in a round-robin format from 25 to 27 October. On 28 October, the two best teams from each group will meet in the semi-finals, while the third-placed sides will face off in the 5/6 placement match, and the fourth-placed teams will compete in the 7/8 placement match. 

The final and third-place encounters at both tournaments are scheduled for 29 October.

Youth:

Group A: Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Somalia

Group B: Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, South Sudan

Junior:

Group A: Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, South Sudan
