Conakry ready for continental best

Following a number of regional qualification competitions, which ended with the Africa Zone VI competition in Zambia in June, the 2019/20 IHF Women’s Trophy: Continental Phase Africa throws-off later today (24 July) in Conakry, Guinea, before finishing on Sunday 28 July.
In the youth (U17) competition, Cameroon (CMR), Guinea (GUI), Nigeria (NGR), Uganda (UGA) and Zambia (ZAM) will compete, while in the junior competition Benin (BEN), Cameroon (CMR), Madagascar (MAD), Senegal (SEN) and Uganda (UGA) will participate.
Both competitions will be played on a round-robin basis, with the overall winner taking the title. All games are set to be played at the Gymnase du Stade du 28 Septembre in the capital of the West African nation.
Four referee couples will oversee the matches including Sonia Belloum/Ida Zoehinga Tounwende (BEN), Marie Adou Yedlock/Armande Daple Koue Alix (CIV), Georges Ondeko/Okwakau Iyeseh Kennedy (KEN) and Ahmed Moustafa Shawky Kedis/Mohamed Mahmoud Adel Moussa (EGY).
The winners of each respective age competition will automatically qualify for the 2019/20 IHF Women’s Trophy: Intercontinental Phase to be held in the future once all continental competitions have completed.
