Nepal welcomes South Asia’s best for SAG 2019

The 13th edition of the South Asian Games takes place in Pokhara, Nepal from 1-10 December 2019 and both men’s and women’s handball feature in a packed programme of sports.

From 4-9 December six teams in each handball competition will go head-to-head at the Covered Hall in Pokhara.

The men’s competition features two groups with India, Bangladesh and Maldives in Group A and Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka in Group B. The women’s competition features India, Pakistan and Maldives in Group A and Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka in Group B.

India are title holders in both competitions, having won the 2016 editions on home soil in Guwahati.

The 2019 SAG were inaugurated with an opening ceremony in Dasarath Stadium, Kathmandu, with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari opening the event – the third time Nepal has hosted the regional event which features seven countries after the debut edition in Nepal in 1983.
