Mexico and Guadeloupe stay victorious in Mexico City

After two days of the Men’s IHF Trophy North America and the Caribbean in Mexico City, two teams maintain a perfect record. On Wednesday 16 November 2022, home side Mexico and Guadeloupe celebrated their second straight victory.

The Mexicans earned the biggest win so far at the tournament, beating Dominica 79:12. While Dominica somewhat improved their attack and scored twice as many goals as in their opening encounter with USA (6:47), the home team were dominant.

Guadeloupe and USA had started the event with wins, but in their mutual encounter, Guadeloupe had the upper hand and cruised to a 40:23 win. Besides, Canada earned their first points at the tournament, defeating Puerto Rico 25:20 in a rather hard-fought match.

Mexico and Guadeloupe top the table with four points, followed by USA and Canada with two. Puerto Rico and Dominica are yet to claim their first points in Mexico City.

The competition will continue on Thursday with three more encounters. Canada are scheduled to play USA at 14:00 (local time), Dominica face Guadeloupe at 16:00, and Mexico meet Puerto Rico at 18:00.
