USA, Guadeloupe and Mexico enjoy winning start in Mexico City

The Men’s IHF Trophy North America and the Caribbean started on Tuesday 15 November 2022 with three matches, which took place in the Complex of the Mexican Olympic Committee in Mexico City.

The United States of America and Dominica faced off in the opening match, that did not show a real fight, as USA enjoyed a big advantage and celebrated the most significant victory at the event on day one (47:6).
The game between Guadeloupe and Puerto Rico followed up, with Guadeloupe also clearly dominating and ultimately taking a 42:18 win. Last but not least, home side Mexico showed their ambitions, starting the tournament with a 33:18 victory over Canada.

After day one, USA, Guadeloupe and Mexico are thus level on two points, while Dominica, Puerto Rico and Canada have yet to earn their first points. On Wednesday, the competition will continue with three more matches: Puerto Rico face Canada at 14:00 (local time), USA and Guadeloupe meet at 16:00, and the hosts Mexico play Dominica at 18:00.
