Great Britain teams start with wins at IHF Trophy Europe

Five youth (U18) and just as many junior (U20) national teams from emerging European nations are participating in the IHF Men's Trophy Europe, which threw off on Tuesday with four matches held in Prishtina, Kosovo.

Junior teams from Great Britain and Bulgaria faced off in the opening match of the event, and in an extremely tight fight, the British team snatched a 23:22 win, as their player Reuben Wardle scored eight goals. Notably, the other Tuesday game in this age category was also very close, as Malta defeated Andorra 34:33.

Therefore, Great Britain and Malta now lead the junior competition with two points. On Wednesday, home side Kosovo will enter the race, as they will face Great Britain at 18:00 local time. Before that, Bulgaria will meet Malta at 12:00.

The U18 encounters were less tight on the opening day. In this category, Great Britain also started with a win, but a much bigger one: 34:11 against Albania. Bulgaria also have two points after beating hosts Kosovo 34:29.

On Wednesday, Kosovo and Albania will try to take their first points, as they are scheduled to meet at 14:00. And at 16:00, Bulgaria will face Georgia, who will play their opening game at the competition.
