Himachal Pradesh take title at 50th Senior Women’s National Handball Championship

Himachal Pradesh, a team representing the northernmost state of India with the same name, defended their title at the 50th Senior Women’s National Handball Championship, organised by the Handball Federation of India.

32 clubs from all over the country participated in the tournament, which was held in a play-off format at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium in the city of Hyderabad between 29 March and 3 April. 

In the final, Himachal Pradesh defeated Indian Railways. While Railways put a lot of effort in the first half, Himachal Pradesh had a clear advantage after the break and cruised to a 20:10 victory.

The home team Telangana, who had lost against Himachal Pradesh 9:16 in the semi-final, settled for the bronze medals. In the other semi-final, Indian Railways had beaten Haryana in a tight fight, 24:22.  

Some participants also received individual trophies. Bhawana Sharma from Himachal Pradesh was elected the best player of the tournament, Reena from Indian Railways became the best goalkeeper, and Rimpy from Haryana was the top scorer of the competition.
