10 national sides on court at IHF Trophy – South and Central America

The South American Zone tournament of the IHF Trophy – South and Central America will be played in Palmira, Colombia from August 14 to 18, with 10 teams from five countries on court. In both the youth and junior categories of the women’s event, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru and Venezuela will vie for the titles.
Both competitions will be played in a round-robin system, with the final ranking based on points gained. As per IHF competition regulations, two points will be awarded for a victory, one for a draw and zero for a loss. The best two teams of each competition will qualify for the Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy – South and Central America.
The first day of U17 games will see Peru meet Venezuela and Colombia take on French Guiana, while Ecuador have a bye. In the U19 category, French Guiana will open against Ecuador and Colombia will play Peru. Venezuela’s U19 side will rest on the opening day.
The IHF Trophy – South and Central America will be officiated entirely by referees from the region, with Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Uruguay represented. The technical delegates nominated are from Brazil, Colombia and France.
All matches will be played in Palmira’s Ramiro Echeverry Sánchez.
