Venezuela enjoy double success on day two in Lima

Four more matches were played on Wednesday 7 June at the South American zone youth and junior tournaments of the Women's IHF Trophy South and Central America in Lima, Peru.
At the youth (U17) competition, Venezuela took the biggest win of the day, beating Bolivia 61:3, as their player Elimar Machado scored 22 goals. In the other match, home side Peru claimed their second straight victory in a close fight, 28:26 against Colombia.
Peru lead the race with four points, Venezuela and Colombia both have two points, while Bolivia lost both games.
On Thursday, the last matches of the preliminary stage will take place. Bolivia and Colombia play at 13:00 (local time), while Peru face Venezuela at 17:00. The two best teams will fight for the title in the final match, which is scheduled for Saturday 10 June.
At the junior (U19) event, Venezuela also earned a big win against Bolivia, this time 60:5, while Colombia proved too strong for Peru (35:29). Ecuador had a rest day.
Venezuela have the maximum of four points after two matches, Peru and Colombia have two points, while Ecuador and Bolivia are yet to claim their maiden points.
On day three, Colombia meet Ecuador at 15:00, and Venezuela face Peru at 19:00. Unlike the youth competition, the round-robin tournament will last until Saturday, determining the final standings.
