CAHB announces changes to event dates
04 Jun. 2020
Following an online meeting of the African Handball Confederation (CAHB) Executive Committee last Friday which addressed a number of questions and items, changes have been announced to the competition and activities calendar of the Continental Confederation due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Most notably, the 2020 CAHB Women’s African Championship, due to be held from 2 to 12 December in Yaoundé, Cameroon, has been rescheduled to June 2021.
The continental competition, which also acts as a qualification for the 2021 IHF Women’s World Championship, will now take place from 11 to 20 June 2021 with the CAHB Coaches Symposium running on the fringes of it for the first week.
The CAHB Men’s African Junior Championship and Youth edition which were both due to be held in September in Casablanca, Morocco, have now been moved to 6 to 12 December and 13 to 19 December, respectively.
Due to take place in Algiers, Algeria, from 30 March to 9 April, the 36th CAHB Men’s and Women’s African Club Cup Winners Championship was cancelled, while a new date for the 27th CAHB African Super Cup will be announced.
The 42nd CAHB African Championship of Champion Clubs – also known as the African Champions League – was set to be staged in Tunisia from 8 to 17 October, but has now been moved to Cairo, Egypt, with new dates of 13 to 22 November.
For referees, the date for the CAHB continental grade referee’s course, set for Cote d’Ivoire, will also be announced at a later date.
