2020 CAHB Men’s African Championship draw complete

The El Mouradi Gammarth hotel in Tunis, Tunisia hosted the draw for the 24th edition of the CAHB Men’s African Championship which takes place from 16-26 January 2020 in the coastal cities of Hammamet and Rades in the North African country.

Seventeen nations will play in the event which will see the winner qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and the top six qualify for the 2021 IHF Men’s World Championship in Egypt.

The draw results are:

Group A: Egypt, DR Congo, Guinea, Kenya
Group B: Angola, Gabon, Nigeria, Libya
Group C: Tunisia, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Cape Verde
Group D: Morocco, Algeria, Congo, Senegal, Zambia

The CAHB also confirmed that the opening match will take place on 16 January between host nation Tunisia and Cape Verde.

Tunisia won the previous edition of the championship held in Gabon in 2018.

Also in Tunis, IHF Expert Marek Goralczyk led an ‘Events Delegates’ course with members of the CAHB Event Delegate team who are preparing not only for Tunisia 2020, but also for the 2020 CAHB African Champion Clubs Championship, which will be held in Sousse, Tunisia, in October 2020.
