While the finals of Europe’s top women’s club competition, the EHF Champions League, were played over the weekend, two other international club titles were decided in Hungary and Spain.

In the second-tier competition, the Women’s EHF Cup, Hungarian club Siófok KC Hungary claimed their first international title when they defeated Denmark’s Team Esbjerg in the two-leg final. In the Challenge Cup, Spanish club Rocasa Gran Canaria celebrated their second title after beating SPR Pogon Szczecin.

The EHF Cup final saw a draw in the first leg in Denmark, 21:21, which left all to be decided in the second leg in Hungary. Siófok made the most of their home advantage, creating a 14:10 lead by half-time and finishing with a 26:21 victory that meant a 47:42 result on aggregate.

Andrea Kobetic’s 12 goals over the two legs took her to first place on the top scorers list, where she finishes the season with a total of 75. It is Kobetic’s second season top scorer award, after she claimed the crown in the 2014/15 Women’s EHF Champions League season.

The Challenge Cup saw a rather unusual situation, in that Rocasa Gran Canaria won the first leg away against Pogon Szczecin by a substantial margin before being defeated at home in the return match. Rocasa took a 30:23 victory in Poland, which set them in a strong position to take the title. Despite a one-goal win for Szczecin in the second leg in Spain, 24:23, Rocasa clinched the title with a 53:47 aggregate victory.

It was Rocasa’s third Challenge Cup final, after they won the title in 2015/16 then were defeated in the ultimate stage by another Polish club, MKS Perla Lublin, in 2017/18. Rocasa’s Haridian Rodriguez Hernandez and Szczecin’s Agata Cebula finish as the joint top scorers of the season, with 42 goals each.
