WADA Play True Day 2021 asks “What does Play True mean to you?”

Since 2014, in the month of April, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the anti-doping community worldwide have celebrated Play True Day, a day dedicated to clean sport, which raises awareness among athletes, fans and others about the importance of protecting and enabling clean sport.

Play True Day 2021 is today and this year’s theme poses a direct question to all the stakeholders about clean sport: “What does Play True mean to you?”

Athletes, coaches, Sports Federations and major event organisers are asked to join the cause and answer the question on their social media channels.

The IHF has been in full support of Play True Day for several years, and joins WADA in the challenge to help maintain solidarity within the sports community. The IHF invites the handball community and stakeholders to join the Play True Day conversation by using the hashtags #PlayTrue, #PlaySafe and #PlayTrueDay.

About Play True Day

Play True Day has been marked every April since 2014. The initiative was born at a WADA-hosted Education Conference in 2013, attended by 17 South American countries. What began as an idea between those nations has yielded growth in the past years, reaching millions around the globe thanks to the participation of individuals and organisations engaged in the fight for clean sport.

With prevention seminars and activities, several round tables and outreach programmes organised prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Play True Day has been crucial in helping stakeholders understand the importance of clean sport.
