Sealing their third win in a row, Egypt dropped 83 goals to secure a 83:17 win against Fiji, while Tunisia and Brazil secured their maiden wins at the 2026 IHF Women's Youth World Championship, against Canada and Angola respectively. A tough battle between Guinea and Uzbekistan ended in a stalemate, 22:22.

Guinea vs Uzbekistan 22:22 (12:11)

With both teams already bound for the President's Cup, the match still carried plenty of importance as two points were at stake ahead of the placement round. Guinea, who finished 29th and 30th in their previous two appearances, and Uzbekistan, whose best finishes are 24th place, both saw an opportunity to improve their final ranking.

Guinea made the stronger start, racing into a 3:0 lead and controlling the opening stages. Both sides then went through a four-minute scoring drought between the 11th and 15th minute, but Uzbekistan came out of it with renewed confidence.

Having trailed by three goals, the Asian side gradually closed the gap and repeatedly moved within one, keeping the contest alive until halftime as Guinea narrowly held on to a 12:11 advantage.

Uzbekistan had a blistering start to the second half, using a 6:0 unanswered run to turn a one-goal deficit into an 18:13 lead, with their defence laying the foundations for the comeback. However, Guinea refused to back down as they answered with a run of their own and, within 10 minutes, restored parity as Célestine Kolié made it 18:18.

The closing stages remained just as dramatic, with the teams entering the final minute level at 22:22. Uzbekistan had the last attack and a chance to secure only their second-ever win at the IHF Women's Youth World Championship, but goalkeeper Mama Adama Camara came up with a decisive save to preserve the draw and ensure both sides carried one point into the President's Cup.

Camara also finished with 12 saves at 41% efficiency, while Yarie Mansaré scored seven goals for Guinea, matching Uzbekistan's top scorer Shalola Keldiyorova.

Tunisia vs Canada 32:16 (15:7)

Led by back Nour Ouni, who also impressed at the 2026 IHF Women’s Junior World Championship one month ago, Tunisia had no issues against Canada, outplaying their opponents to secure their maiden win at Romania 2026 and start the President’s Cup with two points.

Once again, it was more of the same story for Canada, which fell off a cliff in the second half, as their output failed to match what they produced in the first half, with Ouni being the driving force in two key runs which shaped up the match.

The back scored nine goals, improving her overall tally in the competition to 19 goals, as Canada’s plethora of turnovers really hampered the North American side’s performance in the match.

After shipping 15 goals against Tunisia in the first half, Canada conceded seven in only eight minutes in the second half, as the lost balls morphed into fast breaks for Tunisia, which the African team converted without a hitch.

As Tunisia doubled their tally from the first half, so did Canada, as Tunisia’s goalkeeping department saved only four shots, less than Canada’s 16. However, Tunisia won the turnover battle, with the North American team turning the ball over 35 times, as the gap grew until the end of the match, 32:16.

Tunisia will start the President’s Cup with two points, while Canada are on zero points, with the two sides facing Uruguay and Kazakhstan in the next phase of the competition.

Brazil vs Angola 37:21 (21:7)

Both teams had lost their chance to progress to the main round before this match, but Brazil, who finally opened their account at the tournament after two defeats, will now enter the President's Cup with two points, while Angola are still looking for their maiden points at Romania 2026.

Brazil, who had missed a top-16 finish at this level for the first time in history, were the stronger team from the opening minutes. Although it was Angola's Benilde Soares who opened the scoring, the South Americans responded with a commanding 11:1 run. After 20 minutes, they had a shooting efficiency of around 90 per cent, leading 18:4.

Angola's goalkeeping improved when Katika David Sala replaced Anaia Bizerra. The African side also started to find their rhythm in attack, but Brazil's win was never in danger. They led by 14 goals at half-time and maintained the same gap (28:14) in the 46th minute, despite heavily rotating their squad.

Thirteen Brazilian players found the net at least once, with left wing Gabriela Gonçalves A. Medeiros standing out with six goals. Brazil's goalkeepers, Camila Wyden and Aylla Machado Rocha, impressed between the posts, combining for 15 saves, while their Angolan counterpart, Sala, made 11 saves. However, it was the South Americans who claimed a well-deserved victory.

Egypt vs Republic of Fiji 83:17 (43:9)

Egypt had already secured their main round place and two points to carry over, allowing them to approach the match against the Republic of Fiji without pressure and with the opportunity to rotate their squad. The outcome was never in doubt as the African champions took control from the opening whistle.

They opened with a 4:0 run before Fiji scored in the fourth minute through Ivamere Buituni - the Pacific side's quickest-ever goal at the IHF Women's Youth World Championship. However, Fiji then had to wait again as Egypt continued to score almost at will. By the 15th minute the score had already reached 24:4, and Egypt crossed the 30-goal mark before halftime.

With 43 goals in the opening 30 minutes, Egypt rewrote the record books, setting a new record for the most goals scored by one team in a half at the IHF Women's Youth World Championship.

Fiji also produced their best attacking display of the tournament, finishing with nine goals, five of them from Ivamere Buituni. Egypt saw all 13 outfield players get on the scoresheet, with Yasmine Farrag leading the way with eight goals.

The same pattern continued after the break, and although Fiji eventually finished with a tournament-best 17 goals, Egypt's relentless defensive pressure forced an astonishing 70 turnovers, repeatedly creating easy fast-break opportunities. The African side went on to score 83 goals, setting a new record for the most goals scored by one team in an IHF Women's Youth World Championship match, surpassing Croatia's 67 against the Republic of Fiji just two days earlier.

They also established a new record winning margin of 66 goals, eclipsing Croatia's 63-goal victory. The combined total of 100 goals also set a new championship record, surpassing the previous mark of 91.
