A true celebration of handball starts with the fourth International Handball Week

The fourth edition of the International Handball Week – seven days of celebrating handball’s checkered past, amazing present and bright future – has officially started, with special activities and celebrations of the sport scheduled over the next seven days.

Marking the day of the official foundation of the International Handball Federation (IHF), 12 July 1946, it also starts the celebration on all continents and at all levels, as handball has undergone a serious makeover over the last couple of decades, becoming more accessible and inclusive throughout the globe.

In the next seven days, handball and all of its disciplines – indoor, beach and wheelchair – will be celebrated and with theme days focusing on different aspects of the sport, as the IHF aims to create a stronger bond between the shareholders of the sport, from players to coaches and, of course, the fans, the true engine which keeps the sport going at full speed.

In the last 77 years, the IHF has ensured that handball has been growing bigger and bigger, and the results of this ongoing process are clearer and clearer, with the last decades serving as an example of the popularity of the sport, which has grown immensely on all continents. New directions have been created for handball, as well as new ideas implemented, having managed to change the face of the sport for the best.

This year’s edition of the International Handball Week will also be marked accordingly on the official website of the IHF, with special features bringing an insight into the life of the players and the challenges they face time and time again.

The IHF social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) will have plenty of content with some surprises for fans included. Stay tuned – you will not want to miss out.
