Time to move! Olympic Day is here
23 Jun. 2023

Today, 23 June, marks the annual Olympic Day, celebrated since 1948 with the idea of promoting and celebrating the Olympic ideals. This year, the day is all about getting active, based on the fact that the majority of young people do not get enough physical activity each day for optimal physical and mental health.
The International Olympic Committee's theme for Olympic Day in 2023 is 'Let's move', and people around the world can share their own activities today on social media using the hashtags #letsmove and #OlympicDay.
"Daily physical activity has multiple health benefits for our bodies, hearts and minds. That's why on Olympic Day on 23 June, we invite the world to join us and celebrate the joy of moving by building physical activity into our daily lives," states the IOC website.
"Together with Olympic athletes and the whole Olympic Movement, we want to help everyone, every day, to enjoy the benefits of sport and ignite a global wave of daily exercise. And it doesn't have to be complicated — a joyful dance, a game of tag, a peaceful walk with a friend, a revitalising run, or simply take the stairs at work."
National Olympic Committees, sports clubs and organisations, and plenty more organise activities to celebrate Olympic Day, so be sure to check what may be taking place locally in your area. It is also possible to join the fun online in a workout with Olympians shared on the Olympic channels today.
