The South American Zone tournaments of the IHF Trophy South and Central America in Palmira, Colombia continued with four matches staged on Wednesday 24 April. Following these games, all four semi-finalists are already known at the youth tournament, and three teams secured their progression at the junior competition.

In the youth (U18) event, home team Colombia proved too strong for Bolivia in Group A, 42:9, while Peru took a commanding win against Ecuador in Group B, 47:19. So in Group A, both Colombia and Venezuela are through, having two points after one game, and they will fight for the top position in the group on Thursday at 16:00 (local time).

Bolivia, who failed to claim any points in their two matches, will proceed to the fifth-place game face Ecuador, who have a similar result in Group B. In that group, both Paraguay and Peru are through to the semi-final, and they will meet in their last group match on day three at 12:00.

In Group A of the junior (U20) tournament, Venezuela progressed to the semi-final after claiming their second straight win, 37:16 against Ecuador. On Thursday, Paraguay and Ecuador, who still have no points, will fight for the second position in the group in a direct duel at 14:00.

And in Group B, Peru were dominant against Bolivia, winning 50:12, which means that Peru and Colombia reach the semi-final even before their mutual encounter at 18:00 on Thursday. Bolivia, who ended the group stage with no points, will play for the fifth overall position.
